a little about...
Fort Myers, Florida
Fort Myers is the central hub and commercial center of Lee County, Florida. It is a gateway to the Southwest Florida region and a major tourist destination within Florida. The city is named after Colonel Abraham Myers. Additionally, Fort Myers was one of the first forts built along the Caloosahatchee River as a base of operations against the Seminole Indians during the American Indian Wars. During the Seminole Wars, Fort Myers was a strategic location for its visibility and access to Atlantic waterways.
Some destinations include Fort Myers Beach, The winter homes of Thomas Edison ("Seminole Lodge") and Henry Ford ("The Mangoes") as they are a primary tourist attraction in the region. We also have lots of educational and nature/eco-tourist places to visit such as our World Famous Shell Factory, the Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium, the I.M.A.G. (Imaginarium History & Science Center), and so much more.
Fort Myers has an abundance of growth that keeps on advancing which attracts lots of businesses, visitors, and relocating folks, perhaps such as yourself. Located in the South-Eastern part of the city, the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is our very own international airport that makes it very easy and convenient to get here. But that's not all...we also have a smaller, more local airport at Page Field for more local-type traveling.
